Onward Recovery Community and Outreach Center, located at 135 Grand Street, will offer peer support, skill building, recreation, wellness education, employment readiness, and social activities in a safe, welcoming, and substance-free environment. In addition to recovery services, the Center provides information on how to access addiction treatment, while also helping people navigate insurance and treatment issues.
“Addiction has undoubtedly ravaged the lives of many in communities throughout our State. But together we are taking action to help individuals and families to overcome it,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a statement. “This new center will enable New Yorkers to take an active approach in their recovery and improve their overall quality of life for years to come.”
The Center, operated by Independent Living, Inc., is supported through a $1.75 million award from the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services.
The Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays; Tuesday and Thursday through Saturday, hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
